TRAUMATIC BIRTH RECOVERY 3 STEP SESSIONS

For new mothers who are struggling with trauma symptoms (anxiety, recurrent thoughts, flashbacks, anger, avoidance, and hyper vigilance)

I offer a 3-step therapy process that aims to lift those symptoms.

I work with people to understand the impact of what happened, how it is affecting their day-to-day life, disturbing their inner world, and causing them to respond in ways that are sometimes unhelpful.

From here we work together to discover the changes that could take place without these symptoms (ways of thinking, feeling, and responding) in play.

I use a safe, gentle, and effective neuroscience-based trauma therapy known as Havening Techniques or an NLP exercise called Rewind to re-process the memory of what happened.

The type of therapy will be your choice, or we can blend both. This clears the trauma and creates the space to begin experiencing peace, hope and more positive feelings.

Here is what the process looks like step by step:


Step 1, session 1 - usually 90 minutes + to hear your story (should you want to tell it, you don't have to if you don't want to), to understand how it is still impacting on your day-to-day life now and how you would like to feel if these feelings/ways of responding were lifted.

A practice relaxation and visualization your future free of those feelings whilst deeply relaxed.

Recorded MP3 play will be given of this relaxer for in-between sessions.


Step 2, session 2 - usually 90 minutes - to use Havening Techniques trauma therapy or Rewind technique  to re-process the memory of your birth so it no longer holds any emotional charge or anxiety.
To experience your future solution state whilst deeply relaxed.


Step 3 session 3 - usually 30 minutes on Zoom or call  - to check back in that those changes have taken place.
To focus on building confidence and resilience so that you no longer feel like you are owned by what happened and can begin enjoying your life as a new mother.


This session can take place by video call on Zoom , or in office session.

If you have been experiencing feelings of anxiety that you do not think is related to a particular trauma or event, or if you have been experiencing panic attacks I can help?

This is usually delivered over a series of 3 sessions (sometimes more if indicated) and looks to address the following:

Understanding perinatal anxiety and where it stems from in the brain.
Awareness and insight of your though' s actions behaviors or beliefs that may be causing your anxiety.
Looking at the anxiety toolkit: Havening Techniques, journaling, relaxation, meditation, grounding and breathing.

Establishing a practice of self-care and awareness that supports balance, and a feeling of calmness safety & connection.

Preparation, Preservation & Prevention.

The transition into motherhood and parenthood is like an emotional rollercoaster, sometimes happy and joyful and other times challenging, this is normal!

These mindful sessions are designed to help you to help yourself become aware of you own needs, physically, emotionally, and mentally in your pregnancy and find balance or help ease your worries as you find your way.

These lovely sessions will give you the knowledge and skills that will allow you to slow down, connect and become emotionally aware so you can enjoy your pregnancy feeling connected and enjoying the precious time with bump instead of them going by like a blur and being forgotten.

Together we will work through the transition from pregnancy into motherhood.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT WITH PERINATAL LOW MOOD OR DEPRESSION

Emotional Support is usually delivered over a series of 3 to 4  sessions more if you need.

The support I can offer at Resilient Emotions is -

Listening to and understand the underlying thoughts, feelings, events, and situations that can be driving your symptoms of depression.


Teaching you a practice of mindfulness and self-compassion to illuminate the harsh, critical thought patterns that can make coping with parenthood feel difficult and upsetting.

Harsh critical thoughts like guilt & shame which are the main drivers of low mood and depression.

Working with me can guide you to focus attention on resources, skills and abilities that can begin to turn the tables on depression by highlighting the negative thought patterns and working on new ways of thinking, acting feeling, and responding.


Part of the process may include addressing traumatic perinatal events using an exercise like  Havening Techniques or TBR 3 Step Rewind if the underlying low mood has stemmed from a traumatic perinatal event.

Losing a pregnancy and baby is a traumatic event with associated emotional overwhelm and a feeling of helplessness.

It is natural to feel a huge amount of grief and sadly sometimes this can feel very lonely and isolating combined with a lack of support and understanding from friends, family, services, and the community at large. People awkwardly do not know what to say or how to respond to your pain.

During the process of grief, you may need various kinds of support depending on how you're feeling and processing your loss and where you are in your grief.

2 to 3 sessions are advised but support is available for as long as you feel necessary

The support I can offer at Resilient Emotions is -

A listening ear that is trauma informed
A safe space to understand and process your feelings around the loss that you have experienced with compassion.
A practice of relaxation and grounding techniques to help manage anxiety and panic that unfortunately is sometimes a part of this kind of traumatic loss.
Support in future pregnancies if anxiety, fear, and panic heighten or become re-triggered.
Using the exercise TBR 3 Step Rewind & Havening Techniques to help manage anxiety, fear, and panic if trauma symptoms persist.

It is a time in our lives when we can feel quiet vulnerable and emotional, as we face a major shift in our own identity.

Sometimes poor inner beliefs and past conditioning can even prevent us from being able to rest, nurture and look after our own needs.

This was my own experience and didn't help with my transition into motherhood.

Being unaware and neglecting my own needs spiraled me into perinatal anxiety and feelings of overwhelm.

These sessions will help you on your perinatal journey with the transition of identity that is inevitable as you move into motherhood .

You will learn skills to feel calm, balanced, and more in tune with your own gut instinct and intuition whilst building resilience to help you cope and accept challenges if they arise.
